Best Valentine’s Present?

Gathering family together on Thanksgiving to face the dysfunction or pretend there isn’t a drunk-elephant-uncle in the room makes it one of the most dreaded holidays of the year. But to most, no day of the year is as mortifying than the day we chose to celebrate and express love. It’s says a lot about us humans, doesn’t it? We don’t act so crazazy on Memorial Day. Love…it’s scarier than crime, racism, war and aliens!

I personally think Valentine’s has lost its lust. It’s just not sexy anymore. Instead of all the usual lame shenanigans that go on that day, I believe we should pull out our hot and nasty desires and live them!

My bf (look how lame I am: love scares me so that I use initials!) and I decided that we would make a list of our fantasies and give them to each other as presents this Valentine’s Day. The night after our gift discussion, I had 28 on my list and he had 3 (he said this was not because of enthusiasm, but because he got “stuck” on #3). I am currently up to 56 and most of the things I have never done before (ok – a few things I have never done before). So, what’s on my list? I can’t say, but I’m certain it will a surprising and oh-so-sexy Valentine’s Day!

What was the best present you ever gave or received for Valentine’s Day?

He planned the whole night with his mother, who handed down her ring for me, and also was the jazz singer at the lounge we went to for dinner...so great music, great food, a beautiful ring, and the profession of love from my husband in front of the whole place...What is better then that...only to find out the next year on Valentine's that I was pregnant with our first daughter...and our second daughter was born the day after Valentine's Three years ago...so Valentine's is always an exceptionally wonderful holiday for us, without the material things.
