I started bellydance as a way to lose weight and regain femininity about 8 years ago. With several back surgeries, I did very little but enjoyed what i could. Two years ago I left a 16 year marriage and my teenage daughter and i set out to discover new lives. We left with 10 boxes each and a dog. In these past two years I started dancing again, with videos mostly and made it to a few classes. I have lost 82 pounds and am no longer on the 13 different medications that i used to take for back problems, I have had a job for two years and am trying to write and illustrate childrens books as i am an artist. Life throws us some mountains, and i discovered myself somewhere between despair and sheer determination when my world fell apart. My daughter and i have been able to share the journey back to ourselves and have a common ground in a love of dance, I would love to learn to teach but I fear my two left feet might do me in! I just wanted to let women know that when the world blows up, that you can make it back to yourself and become a stronger and better person. Finding your inner woman is within each of us.
