  • I decided to rescue myself and it’s the single thing that has changed my life.

I decided to rescue myself and it’s the single thing that has changed my life.

I’m not a traditional girl so I didn’t envision a man on a white horse lifting me up and carrying me off into the sunset. But I did still want someone to rescue me. Fix me, heal my wounds and make me happy. In the past, I wanted a business partner to come and take charge of GoddessLife. A doctor to restore me back to health. A therapist to solve my mummy and daddy issues. A boyfriend to fill up that void. I gave my “life preserver” away to anyone with the hope they would rescue me.

  • She turned her wounds into power at a sacred waterfall in Hawaii

“She turned her wounds into power.” In this picture I'm at a sacred waterfall the ancient Hawaiians used for ceremonial childbirth. I had just finished performing a private ritual for the 20 women attending my GoddessLife Retreat. They had all left and it was just nature, Hawaiian ancestors, my photographer and me. The transformational energy was the most powerful I had ever felt. In this picture I am holding space for my own darkness. The vibration of the sacred space gave me the courage to brave my most fiercest battle: facing my own core wounds. My soul asked for guidance on how to let go of this darkness, hopelessness, self-loathing and the belief that I am broken; so my spirit can be filled with love and light. The reply was, “show me all the parts of you that you don’t love so I know where to begin.” I surrendered and felt my soul descend like Persephone into the underworld. I wasn’t scared; I felt the warm embrace of the Divine Feminine. “Precious Soul, you are needed. What an immense act of bravery it was to agree to come here again in this period of tumultuous and dramatic ascension shifts on Earth. What an immensely courageous Soul you are. Breathe into the knowing that you are a warrior of truth, light and wisdom. “ With the Divine’s empathetic vibrational message, I was able to just ‘be’ with the most unlovable parts of myself while also welcoming back the light.

Dear Precious Souls, I wish for you that when the darkness, pain and judgment arises within that you that you are able to find or create a loving space where you can feel empathy towards your precious soul. That you know that you are needed here on this earth. That sometimes you need to experience this darkness to be able to resurrect to the light. That you are a warrior of truth, light and wisdom. Blessed be.

  • Reclaiming my flower power

Reclaiming my power. my flower-power. where my magic is. Stop going where the well is dry. Go where the love is. I am realizing that love is anything but what we expect it to be because it is meant to move us into all the unexpected places we are meant to be in deeper relationship with. Sometimes what you want and need you will not get from whom or where you want to get it from. But if you open up your heart you might get the love you need from unexpected places (like a field of poppies in your backyard)  What is meant for you, will reach you even if it is beneath two Mountains and what isn't meant for you won't reach you even if it's between your two lips. 🌼🌸🌺

  • Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make a decision

Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen. My beloved Emerson said that and I can attest to this being the absolute truth. 6 months ago, Flannel Jack asked me to move into a van🚐 with him. I'm aware that this is the opposite of most people's goals, but I thought it was the most romantic💞 proposal in the world🌍. Our van turned into a school bus🚌 we named True North as reminder to follow our internal compass no matter where this big adventure takes us. Since that day, we have had so many obstacles to derail us - from big things like me becoming very sick😷and searching for a diagnosis💉 to small things like running out of my favorite patchouli vibrational spray. But the universe is always our side of our dreams. Your dreams will often turn out looking different that you imagined and so will your hurdles.☔️But here we are 6 months later and the transformation is complete: I have turned into the dancing girl emoji💃and we are ON THE ROAD! So, my sisters and brothers – dream big (make them as specific as possible) have a laugh when you run into problems and follow your dreams to the end of the rainbow🌈! Happy Trails! 🌅🍾

  • Guilty Pleasures

As my phone rang tonight, I found myself saying those nasty four little words, “ I really shouldn’t, but…”

You see, I have a vintage pink rotary phone that’s cord only reaches the fake fur rug on the floor next to it.  To speak on the phone, I have to lie on the rug. It’s decadent in The Valley of the Dolls kind of way. I knew it was my best girlfriend calling and with all the work I had to do, I really shouldn’t have, but… I indulged in one of my favorite guilty pleasures and talked to my friend, on the rug (meaning, no multitasking) for two hours!

Afterwards, I didn’t care how behind I was on my spreadsheets I was supposed to have prepared for tomorrow. “So what” I said to myself, I can stay up late, or get up early, or, even *gasp* not finish them.  Indulging in my guilty pleasure made me feel so bad, I felt good.

We all have guilty pleasures – some that would embarrass us to admit – but should we feel compunction about them? If watching trashy TV shows, eating at fast food restaurants or googling your ex can bring us so much pleasure, then why should it create remorse?

Isn’t it tiring trying to be perfect and to always do the right thing? Isn’t there something to be said for the occasional dash of depravity? There is! Not everything we do needs to be productive, lead to a cleaner house or the betterment of humanity. In actually, doing something for the sheer amusement of it is reason enough.

So, go ahead, eat a gram or two of saturated fat, crank up that cheesy love ballad on your car radio and splurge on something ridiculously expensive.  And remember, sometimes, tabletops are for dancing.

  • Fall IN LOVE with Life this Valentine's Day and let's bring sexy back!

While I was at my favorite coffee shop this morning, I meandered around the store looking at all the Valentine’s Day gifts they had for sale. What happened next was so utterly mystifying, that I let my café mocha become cold and had to order another. Let me first preface this with: I am a huge fan of gifts. If it’s wrapped in a bow, even an empty box is irresistible to me. This said, I was bewildered by the fact that I wouldn’t want to receive any of these things for sale at the coffee shop as presents for Valentine’s Day. Yes, they were so over-the-top saccharine sweet that I got a cavity just looking at them. But that’s what Valentine’s Day is all about. Or is it?

  • The struggle with body confidence is real.

The struggle with body confidence is real.

We all tell ourselves stories about our bodies. And if we said them aloud towards someone else, we would seem cruel.

I’ve been telling my body that it is worn-out, washed-up, wrecked, ruined and broken. Two years ago, I broke my leg and last year I was in the hospital 4 times. I saw several doctors and took countless tests (even for cat scratch fever – which I was secretly hoping I had because it sounds so cool). I was so sick some days that getting out of bed and to the couch was a major accomplishment.

  • What’s truly worth doing, whether you fail or succeed?

“What would you attempt to do, if you knew you could not fail?”

I’ve been called a New-Age fruitloop many times, but truth be told: I loathe many new age platitudes and slogans. Mostly because I find many the New Age ideas shallow, lazy and fear-based. Take for instance, the above question I see in self-help books, hear in yoga classes and across social media pretty much non-stop.

Why is it that we are so afraid of failure? Failure is as natural as succeeding and they aren't opposites of each other.  Actually, the opposite of success is not trying at all or giving up too soon.

  • My Secrets to Get Back into Shape after the Holidays 🍾🍾🍾

I’ll admit it. I took the chocolate road to happiness this year. After a series of personal losses and injuries, I let myself go and my buns of steel turned to buns of marshmallows. I stopped exercising and was breathless after a 15 second lap dance for my boyfriend. It was perfectly normal for me to eat a cupcake for breakfast.

I never thought it would happen to me, but it did. I was out of control and completely out of shape.

The situation was dire – after all, just a year ago, I was referred to as a ‘fitness expert’.

  • Blessed Winter Solstice to you and yours. Shine on sisters and brothers.

It's the Winter Solstice and a New Moon!

This signifies an opportunity for BIG personal transformation. The Winter Solstice is the longest night of the year and marks the darkest point of the sun, after which the light begins to return and the days become longer. Add the New Moon to this picture and now the sun and moon are both at their darkest point – making for an extremely long and dark night.

Basically, the idea is that when things seem really bleak and dark, it is often our biggest opportunity for personal transformation.

  • Pay Women Compliments

Years ago, a pretty woman in her twenties, approached me after I finished a bellydance show and asked me if she could ask me an unusual question. She sheepishly asked me how old I was, but there was something odd in the way she asked me. I quickly assessed the situation and found that her boyfriend was sitting at their table watching us, waiting. I told her I was 27 and asked her, “Why?” She replied, “We have a bet. I said you were over 30.” She flippantly added a non-convincing, “You dance really well.” “Thanks,” I said and knew immediately that was definitely NOT a compliment. She walked back to her table and I filed it in my mind as, “Bitch” and let it go – or so I thought.

  • Let the healing waves of Love flow over you this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse

The final eclipse of the year, is opening a portal within and without, letting the deep healing, cleansing waves of Neptune  into the depths of our soul.

After the burning and purification on the last New Moon Solar Eclipse 1st September, Neptunes healing and spiritual waves of love will heal, soothe and nourish our very soul. The Moon represents our emotional needs and who we are at a deep down soul level. We are remembering who we really are.

Our inner Shaman is once again being activated in us all. The part of you that connects directly to the true source of the universe. Who teaches us how to stop living from the ego, and start loving your true, authentic self. Who, intuitively knows where our mind, body and spirit needs healing and which path to take, that will take us to the next evolutionary level of our development. Helping us to reclaim our lost power to heal, see the truth, and fulfil our purpose in life.

Within you is a greater, wiser self that knows no fears, worries, but is infinite and boundless.

  • THESE ARE THE WOMEN

Women who are called into divine feminine service - that of raising the collective feminine spiritual vibration quotient on this planet - are not shrinking violets.

These women - who no doubt possess an ocean of the purest unconditional love and compassion at their conjoined Hearts - must be strong, bold and wise enough to make waves wherever they are sent.

These women are the Ones who walk into old paradigms and shake them up at their core. These women are the Ones who have heard the Call of the Mountains, of the Sea, and of the Stars and Wind, and are doing something about it.

  • When you don't feel like a Goddess

I will be here for you when you don’t feel like a Goddess. Let me be your mirror. I am here to lend a hand so you remember that you are.

Even the most confident woman has days when she doesn’t believe she is a Goddess. Every now and then these thoughts creep up after a painful break up or when you’re overworked, ill or financially strapped.  Other times it’s unclear the precise reason. You can’t seem to help but feel antisocial, invisible, insecure, over-the-hill, out-of-shape, unattractive, powerless, lost or insignificant. When you are being hard on yourself and thinking unkind thoughts, I am here to help you see how exquisite you truly are.

During these times, let me reiterate that you are a Goddess.  Allow me to be your eyes when you can’t see that you are powerful. I will reflect back to you the amazing gifts you have to give the world. You have an essence that is exclusive to you. It is pure and perfect right now and forever. In case you have forgotten, you are sensual and feminine. I know you are capable of anything you put your mind to. I believe in you completely.

When you don’t feel like a Goddess, I am here to remind you that you are.

  • Self Care Day - healing with Moroccan Gypsum Crystal Selenite Wand

Ok, honestly I believe every day is Self Care day. However, there are days that I need to carve out time to devote to healing, nurturing my Goddess within, self-love, cleansing, raising my vibration higher, pampering...you know, GoddessLife stuff :)

Today I got myself a Moroccan Gypsum Crystal Selenite Wand. They are reasonably priced as far as other crystals and wands typically go for. These beauties are only $9.95

I must admit am not an expert on crystals, though I should be by now given my Bulgarian Gypsy family ancestry. But this is what I’ve learned so far from my family, some research and my ritual with my wand this morning:

Selenite Crystals help you to Connect To Divine Light For Personal Transformation

    • Selenite crystals work to help you to bring light down from the higher realms into the physical body, to create personal transformation.
    • The white or transparent crystals have a strong vibration that may open the crown chakra and the soul star chakra.
    • These are high vibration crystals, which also deliver clarity of mind, by cleansing the aura of negative energy build up, both within the physical and the etheric body.
    • Using White Selenite can be powerful for activating dormant abilities from past lives. It has the capacity to take you to the higher realms, which often happens quickly.
    • Selenite is a crystallized form of gypsum. The name Selenite comes from the Greek word for moon and means moon glow," and these Selenite Wands do glow with a shimmery, pearl-like luster.
    • These Selenite Wands from Morocco feel great to hold in your hand and can evoke protection from the angelic realm and also dispels negative energy.
    • Use Selenite in a grid around your home or in the corners of a room to create a safe and peaceful space. Selenite also removes energy blocks from physical and etheric bodies.
    • The powerful vibration of Selenite opens the Crown and Higher Chakras and is excellent for meditation or spiritual work. Selenite calms and brings deep peace, and offers access to past and future lives.
    • Selenite brings mental clarity, clearing confusion and revealing the bigger picture behind problems. A protective stone, Selenite shields a person or space from outside influences.

I would love to hear your experiences with Selenite and I wish for you a loving and powerful Self-Care day – however you choose to spend it.

“What’s the big deal going on in the sky?” you ask. It's the Winter Solstice combined with a Full SuperMoon in Capricorn.

So? This rare occurrence signifies an opportunity for BIG personal transformation. Add the New Moon to this picture and now the sun and moon are both at their darkest point – making for an extremely long and dark night.

  • How to Make a Vision Board actually Work. How to avoid your board becoming bored.

How to Make a Vision Board actually Work. How to avoid your board becoming bored.

I know that sounds a bit harsh. However, all I want is for each and every one of our dreams to not just remain dreams.

It's probably safe to say that most of you have created a vision board once or twice. You read about it or made one in a workshop and it was an enjoyable activity. Maybe you even kept it. And displayed it in some significant place in your room. Any many of you actually manifested a dream from a picture you pasted - or at least you recognize some connection between that picture of a beach and a vacation you took to a tropical island. However, I am suggesting another way to create a vision board that is very effective in helping you turn your vision board into a visionbecomesyourlife board.

“Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising, which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage.” Emerson

How to make everyday a GoddessLife – free & easy ways to turn the turn the ordinary into extraordinary, the faded into fabulous and the dreary into darling!

I must confess that my eyes do not always see the world through glittery-cupcake-flavored-rose-colored glasses. Honestly, it’s difficult to feel like a Goddess when I am overworked, down with the flu or filing my taxes. And there isn’t an actual place to file my grievances, such as, “Why can’t I sleep on a bed crafted from real cotton candy?” or “Pay for my groceries with smiles???” But I do find it liberating to know that it’s absolutely my prerogative to cry into my pillow every night or find my sparkly bootstraps and start pulling. The awareness that my happiness and outlook on life depends utterly, solely and completely on little ole moi is unbelievably empowering.

  • Changing the world - Make a difference one Goddess at a Time

My mind has been on something quite simple—changing the world :)

I’ve been focused on empowering other women to empower other women by certifying women to teach The Goddess Workout, spread the GoddessLife philosophy and becoming "The Goddess" in their community by blending their own skills & interests with what they love most about GoddessLife. It's been so inspiring to encourage women all over the globe to beat the odds, be strong and live big. (this pic is of me on skype call at 2:30am with a woman from The Czech Republic. And yes...I dress up for every single GWI career consultation!)

It’s made me wonder— how can our actions be so powerful that we leave lasting ripples that inspire others to do the same? The refreshing answer doesn’t involve huge, intimidating steps, but simple, thoughtful ones. It starts with how we interact at home. Do we support our family and tribe, or do we challenge them every step of the way. Are we willing to lead by example instead of living small and never thinking we’re enough? I know we can make history by taking a stand. It starts by being willing to shine and own our power. When we do this we give others permission to do the same. We WANT others to shine as bright as us—it’s nothing to fear. A world full of people who have come alive would be an absolute blessing.

So how do we change the world? It starts with you. Pursue what makes your heart beat, even if it seems impossible or bizarre. Don’t let the opinions of others hold you back. Know what fires you up and pursue it with passion. xoxoxoxo Dolphina

    The Hike of my Life

**warning**: this is the most personal & hard-core blogpost I have ever shared

I don’t know precisely why I chose today, but I did.

I decided to face my fears head on. I laced up my kicks with my heart in my throat and I drove to a hiking trail I haven’t hiked in over a year.

It’s called Wildflower Park and every turn on the path is covered in happy flowers that appear to smile and tell you they love you. I cherished the trail so dearly that I hiked it religiously for two years. I even “checked-in” my hikes on Yelp (bad idea, girls). It wasn’t physically challenging, but journey lifted my spirit supreme.

    Then everything changed.

  • THROWBACK THURSDAY: How to Turn your Dreams into Reality

THROWBACK THURSDAY: How to Turn your Dreams into Reality: I am sharing my secrets to how I made my BIG goals come true..the WHOLE ENCHILADA (ps: this blogpost is related to the Vision Board post below)

Abstract, elusive, ideas that will never come to fruition are how most people view dreams, but I’m championing another way – a way where our dreams come true, where our dreams stop being dreams and start being a little more like reality.

But what actually is the process of making a dream become reality? After putting a few notches in my goal-belt, I now recognize the patterns and steps to achieve them. First of all, tapping into my feminine power helped me to achieve my goals. As I see it, making dreams come true is similar to childbirth. Next, (and this should simultaneously inspire and relieve you), there are only two tragic mistakes you can make while pursuing your desires: 1) Not starting. 2) Not going all the way. Once you have committed to both, the rest is a piece of cake. From my experience, there are 5 steps to making your desires part of your day to day life. And since I like to eat my cake first, I will now serve you the whole enchilada:

  • Happy New Moon in the sign of Aries - Wednesday April 10th, 2013

A New Moon in the sign of Aries occurs on Wednesday, April 10th, 2013, at 5:35 AM EDT.

The New Moon in Aries cycle is a good time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Ram. It's time to take action - try something new and innovative, and go at it with gusto and confidence; be assertive without being abrasive; take charge of our lives; start a brand new project; and discover our own personal courage.

This is a strong cycle under which to re-evaluate our relationship to ourselves. With this potent Aries energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives. It's time to make some solid yet realistic plans, and to set the stage for reaping the rewards from our new beginnings, as little or big as they may be, in approximately two weeks' time after the Full Moon occurs.

  • HURRY! GoddessWear Baby Pink Limited Edition Hot Pants/BoyShort Panties

GoddessWear Baby Pink Limited Edition Hot Pants/BoyShort Panties

Goddesses, I squealed when I discovered in a tucked away in a glorious "Pandora's" box a few Brand New GoddessWear Baby Pink Hot Pants/Boy Short Panties. Some of you are aware that a few years back I had a clothing line called GoddessWear. I no longer design & manufacture this line. I decided to sell them to you, my beloved GoddessLife Community.  These knickers are extremely limited and will go FAST!  And when they are gone...they are gone.

These GoddessWear Hot Pants (I don't like calling them boyshorts - we are girls & hot!) were designed with love and care by yours truly. These unmentionables were created especially for the bellydancer to hug every luscious curve while you dance...or burlesque, practice yoga or wash your dishes. They are extremely well-made, comparable with all my favorite high-end lingerie stores. And come with the "GoddessLife" logo - with the signature diamond rhinestone in the middle of the "O" of GoddessLife. I have a drawer full of these drawers and the diamond rhinestone and the logo is still on each and every pair.

The GoddessWear Hotpant panties are super comfy and fit great (I always wear them whenever I perform). They are made of a cotton spandex blend and definitely stretch & hug every luscious curve. They come in small, medium and large and honestly I have long forgotten how to measure them - so if you are willing to take a chance or just want a collector's item, I suggested you snag a pair stat! The photo above is size small on top and size large on the bottom - if that helps. There is more info on the shopping page.

Click here to order your pair now! HURRY - these will go fast & when they are gone, they are gone.

  • Bucket Lists are Stupid

The cops just pulled me over. Again. And I’ve been waiting in my car for over 20 minutes. But I’m not concerned - I haven’t committed a crime. Well, nothing serious, anyway.

You see, I have only one name on my Driver’s License: Dolphina (which is also the solitary name on my Social Security Card and Passport – which leads to more exotic delays). Right now, the police officers are most likely stupefied on precisely how to find me in their system – or wondering if I exist at all.

Then they return to my car and ask me what my ‘real’ or ‘last’ name is. To them, this is rare incident, but it happens to me all the time. Sometimes an impromptu bellydance performance or pulling my finger cymbals out of my glove compartment or dance bag suffices the average skeptic.

  • GoddessLife Favorite Things - Dream Halos dream catchers by Marie K'noos

DREAM HALOS is an exquisite new line of dream catchers created by Marie K'noos to enhance good dreams, visions and protection.

Native Americans believe dream catchers connect the heavens to earth. They act as filters to clear negative energy and enhance spaces for beautiful dreams to be realized and manifested.

These sleep amulets hang from the ceiling, most commonly over beds but can be placed in corners, windows or in any place needing fresh, positive energy. It is recommended to shake the dream catcher a few times a year to clear it. Each unique DREAM HALO is hand made with love. Sweet dreams!

My dear friend, Marie K'noos started making them after returning to Malibu from Hawaii because she felt disconnected...they put her in an altered state and she felt centered when she sat down to make one. Everyone came by and wanted one. Viola! DREAM HALOS was born. Marie is a Filmmaker, Feng Shui specialist and has created and owned three extremely successful retail stores in the exclusive Country Mart in Malibu, the North Shore in Oahu and Paia in Maui. She is a rare, divine and magical being!

Her one of a kind Dream Halos are ridiculously beautiful and so mystical that they are difficult to photograph. You are just going to have to trust me. I am blessed to call her a friend and she Feng Shui-ed my house and GoddessLife HQ. I have a Dream Halo dream catcher in every room! Her business is growing very quickly & she's uber busy - so let her know that you are part of the GoddessLife community and you were referred by me:)

  • Happy Full Moon in Virgo

A Full Moon occurs on Monday, February 25th, 2013, at 3:26 PM EST in the sign of Virgo.

The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time--a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.

The Sun is in Pisces and with the Virgo-Pisces service axis involved, this Full Moon presses us to find a balance between day-to-day functions and routines, physical health, and the need for order (Virgo) and vision, spiritual health, disorder, and the infinite (Pisces). Virgo rules the tools and techniques that we use to deal with day-to-day life, while Pisces rules the tools that we use to deal with our spiritual selves. Some sort of crisis (which can be a crisis of consciousness) or sudden awareness of a lack in our lives provides us with a golden opportunity to explore our emotional needs within the context of the house polarity where the Full Moon occurs in our natal charts. This Full Moon urges us to strike a balance between work and service, practicality and impracticality, criticism and acceptance.

  • How to Select and Serve a Bottle of Champagne - and Open the Bubbly Safely

To my sheer horror, I found out last night that one of my most glamorous and chic friends did not know how to open a bottle of champagne! • GoddessLife Woman of the Week Wednesdays - Jane Fonda

It's GoddessLife Woman of the Week Wednesday! Here at GoddessLife HQ, we feature a woman who embodies the highest possible expression of her nature. Honoring the brilliance in other women will help all of us on our path to living our own true potential.

It was unlike anything that anyone had ever seen or done before. The video opens with a close-up shot of a dancer wearing leg warmers as she stretches her leg up on a dance barre and then pans out to show a typical scenario of dancers gathering for a class. Then the camera zooms across the room onto Jane Fonda wearing her infamous stripped leotard with a belt around her waist (what was that for?), tights and leg warmers. She comes up from touching her toes, tosses back her head and utters enthusiastically her now famous line, “ Are you ready to begin the workout?” towards the camera – as if she is talking to us – because she was. We were now taking a class with the famous Jane Fonda as our instructor in the privacy and convenience of our home.

  • GoddessLife TuesdaysShoesdays - Nike Studio Wrap Dance Yoga Shoes

It's Tuesday and the day we at GoddessLife HQ feature an outrageous, fabulous, unbelievable pair of shoes. Why? Because it's TuesdaysShoesday! And no matter what you choose to wear on your tootsies, go out there and strut your stuff Goddesses!

I know I'm not supposed to. But I can't help it. I love these new Nike Studio Wrap shoes!

I'm aware the entire yoga blogosphere has their chakras in a twist over these shoes. Blog after blog accuse Nike of peddling a product we don't need just to squeeze their way into the market "owned" by Lululemon. Don't get me wrong, I heart Lululemon. I'm a Lululemon Ambassador for asanas sake!

Reading these blogs, it seems as if the entire yoga community meditated at the banks of the Ganges and it spoke. The words were: these shoes are too expensive, unnecessary and they would be embarrassed to wear them to class. I disagree.

Possibly it's because I'm a dancer, as well as, yogini. Perhaps it's because Nike is a Greek Goddess and us goddesses wear everything from Lululemon to a gypsy scarf from a flea market. Or maybe it's simply that they are pretty. Whatever the precise reason, I cannot wait to lace a pair on and go to a pilates, ballet barre, yoga or belly dance class!

  • Happy New Moon Solar Eclipse in Scorpio!

This New Moon Solar Eclipse occurs on Tuesday, November 13th, 2012, at 5:09 PM EST.

This lunation is a more potent New Moon, as it is a Total Solar Eclipse, and represents a new beginning in the fixed water sign of Scorpio. It's a time when we can focus on some of the constructive traits of the sign of the Scorpion--passionate, resourceful, focused, probing, deep, and perceptive--and consider how to positively incorporate these qualities into our lives. Scorpio New Moons are generally good for working on our self-mastery skills. We may want to pinpoint the things in our lives that make us feel out of control, such as addictions and debts, and work on freeing ourselves of these emotional burdens. This New Moon cycle is also an opportune one in which to explore what is missing in our lives that leads us to engage in these self-destructive behaviors. This cycle represents an opportunity to rid ourselves of the "junk" in our lives--material and spiritual. With this potent Scorpio energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives.

I went into the woods today with my best friend, Marcella de la Luna, because I wished to live deliberately and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover I had not lived.

I could have never predicted that my pilgrimage to my beloved Walden Pond would include a monster hurricane, 4 bottles of champagne, missed airplane connections, dozens of costume changes, and letting go of plans so that I could experience the life that was waiting for me.

  • Homemade Fudgesicle Recipe

I couldn't remember the last time I had a fudgesicle. Awful, right? So the other day I had to do something about it. I went searching for a good recipe and wasn't really satisfied with anything that I was finding. If I was going to make fudgesicles from scratch I wanted them to be better than the store bought ones. They had to be extremely fudgy and creamy... no watery or icy fudgesicles allowed. I didn't want chocolate flavored ice pops. I wanted chocolate in the form of an ice pop. Am I making any sense?

Maybe not, but I am happy to say that after experimenting and taking random bits from countless other fudgesicle recipes I finally put together one that is exactly what I wanted! These are fudgy, creamy, extremely chocolate-y and best of all...irresistible.

These are by far one of my favorite sweet snacks of the summer and they're so easy to make. Stirring in mini chocolate chips after the mixture has cooled adds an extra surprise to these fudgesicles.

  • GoddessLife Favorite Dance Video Thursdays - Popping out of a Cake!

In celebration of how profound dance has enriched my life, each Thursday I post a GoddessLife Dance Video of the Week. Enjoy and keep dancing!

This week is a scene from the musical Singing in the Rain. This movie has such a plethora of some of the most memorable dance routines in all of cinema history that this little number often goes unnoticed. It has always been one of my personal faves because I love the roaring 20's and the Coconut Grove dancers and POPPING out of a cake - which Debbie Reynolds does in this super fun & adorable number. I honestly think the world could do with a lot more of cuties jumping out of cakes. Yes, I do. I think its fun & makes everyone smile and all of you who want to judge me and call me a hypocrite for calling myself a feminist and jumping out of cake this past weekend...will just have to see the pics and all the fun everyone had!

  • Be Yours & Have the BEST Valentine's Day of your life!

I’ve been on every end of Valentine’s Day – in love, in unrequited love, broken-hearted, single & sexy, single & lonely and performing in a restaurant filled with couples trying desperately to have the most romantic evening of their lives. And collecting the cumulative experiences into one well-rounded observation, I conclude that there is one definitive attitude to have on Valentine’s Day. Be Yours.

Decide right now, no matter what your current relationship status is, that you will first and foremost ‘Be Your Valentine’ on February 14th. I will bet my bottom dollar (and I don’t like betting that), this mindset will change this holiday forever. And for the better.

In celebration of how profound dance has enriched my life, each Thursday I post a GoddessLife Dance Video of the Week. Enjoy and keep dancing!

For upcoming Valentine's Day, this week I chose the most heavenly romantic dance performance I have ever seen. This dance number with Cyd Charisse and Gene Kelly is overshadowed by the many other famous scenes in the movie, "Singing in the Rain." You can wait a lifetime, but there will never be another dance performance like this: the veil, those legs, the chemistry, the emotion. Divine.

  • So, You’re Thinking about Performing a Bellydance Show for the First Time?

I would bet my bottom dollar that since the moment you began taking belly dance classes or practicing with DVDs, you have heard this question: "When are you going to perform for me?" Who could blame them? I could watch belly dancers 24/7 and feel like a kid on Christmas morning with each and every shimmy.

Women wrote me so often with questions about performing a bellydance show for someone special that I included a bonus segment on The Goddess Workout: Intro to Bellydance entitled: "How to Bellydance for Your Man". Recently, I have received so many inquiries about the names of the song and on which CD is the track that I taught or performed a routine on my Goddess Workout DVDs. So darlings, here in this blogpost, I have listed all the Goddess Workout DVD routines, name of song and # of track from which CD…and a link to listen to clips and download your desired song.

  • Cleopatra as a role model and what lessons can be learned from how she lived her life

Cleopatra is arguably the most fascinating woman who has ever lived. The Pharaoh is so captivating that at least 2000 years after her death, there are nearly 200 films, TV movies and documentaries and almost 4000 books written about her listed on Amazon.com! (This compares with 1200 books on Marilyn, 300 written about Madonna and 150 about Coco Chanel). I devour anything and everything I can about Cleo, from documentaries on the History Channel to archaeological articles sent to me online by a friend.

Why? What makes a woman that lived so long ago still irresistible after all this time? I would examine her extraordinary life from a new perspective: Cleopatra as a role model and what lessons can be learned from how she lived her life.

I divided her fantastic biography into four "Cleotes" and how we can apply these quotes and lessons to our own lives.

  • The GoddessLife way to Cleanse

Oh January, here you are on my doorstep again. Every year you barge into my house like some prissy, judgmental loan shark to claim all the guarantees I made to you in December. Ok – so, I made them to you in November, too. Yes, I am aware that I ate an entire cheese and cracker plate all by myself at a holiday party. Honestly, is it a big deal? And I have not forgotten all of my ridiculous promises I made to you that included going on a major cleanse as soon as you arrived. But January, I am going to make you an offer you can’t refuse.

I’m a Goddess and we are notoriously terrible at cleanses. The last time I drank water with lemon juice, cayenne pepper and maple syrup; I had a ghastly headache, felt totally deprived and ended up going on the cupcake cleanse. Cleanses are typically aggressive, severe and strict. These are masculine traits. If I am going to do a cleanse, the process needs to be feminine. In other words, it will require nurturing, pampering and gentleness. These are all aspects of femininity. Fortunately, I have the perfect solution!

  • How to Keep Your New Years Resolutions All Year

Say it with me: "This year I'm going to transform my life from mundane to magical by not only writing down my New Year’s Resolutions, but actually following through with them." Easy enough, right? For some, but for most people, the easy part comes in the writing of them, not the doing.

How many people do you know resolve very year to tone their bodies, lose weight, exercise more? And how many people actually do it?

Ah yes, therein lies the rub....

  • My Secrets to Get Back into Shape after the Holidays

*** I’ll admit it. I took the chocolate road to happiness this Fall. After a series of personal traumatic events, I let myself go and my buns of steel turned to buns of marshmallows. I stopped exercising and was breathless after a 15 second lap dance for my boyfriend. It was perfectly normal for me to eat a cupcake for breakfast. I never thought it would happen to me, but it did. I was out of control and completely out of shape.

  • A Fresh New Way to keep your New Year's Resolutions

Yep, it’s true; I am a rebel. My defiant nature has nothing to do with politics or the law (for the most part); but if you said I was an nontraditional girl, you would be right on the money, honey. I am honestly bored by doing things the way they have always been done and most importantly, they don’t seem to work for most people…especially moi. But please don’t misunderstand and assume that I am pessimistic priss or against the concept of tradition. I believe wholeheartedly in the basic human need for ritual, hope and goals.

So, when the New Year’s roll around and the internet is flooded with all the tired ideas of how to kickstart your rezzies, its not that I am in opposition to the notion of people setting goals, I just think those tired thoughts should be, well, (re)tired.

  • Create a Nom de Voyage while traveling this holiday season

Many of you will be traveling this holiday season to visit family or friends (or what my friend calls framilies) and I recommend you adopt a "nom de voyage"  - for the car ride, plane flight or for your entire trip. A nom de voyage can come in handy to entertain your kids on a long car ride. Tell your kids you can't respond to their multiple questions unless they call you Goddess of the Car, Queen Candy Cane or Miss Zhu Zhu. It will make your whole family laugh every time they say it and give every one a delightful boost. It can also aid in the loneliness if you are not traveling and cannot be with your loved ones.

I was at the US Embassy in Kuwait when a producer from the Conan O’Brien TV show called early one Tuesday morning. She asked, “Would I fly 6384 miles to appear on his late night show that Thursday?” “Absolutely,” I answered and packed my suitcase. I have appeared on literally hundreds of TV shows to promote my fitness, bellydance and women’s empowerment books and workout DVDs. I’ve shimmied with Regis, undulated with the women on The View and taught Carrie and Miranda on Sex and the City to awaken their Goddess within.

  • How to Select and Serve a Bottle of Champagne and open the Bubbly Safely

To my sheer horror, I found out last night that one of my most glamorous and chic friends did not know how to open a bottle of champagne! This unpleasant discovery was made when the loaded weapon was pointed right at me: she had removed the wire cage (that goes around the cork) and the naked cork was aimed precisely in my direction while she aimlessly chatted about her most recent romance.  I tried to remain calm as I diverted a total catastrophe by quickly snatching the bubbly from her and putting my hand over the cork. After accusing her of the crime, she confessed that she did not know how to properly open a bottle. I realized at that moment - if she does not know how to open a bottle of champagne - then there must be so many other lost lambs out there! So, in my mission to make the world a better (and safer) place for Goddesses everywhere: here are the guidelines of how to properly select, open and serve a bottle of champagne.

Dom Perignon was a Benedictine Monk who is often credited for accidentally inventing champagne. As the story goes, after tasting his creation, he said, "Come quickly, I am drinking the stars!"

  • Pay Women Compliments

Years ago, a pretty woman in her twenties, approached me after I finished a bellydance show and asked me if she could ask me an unusual question. I must interject here that after I perform, I consistently receive an unbelievable assortment of questions and compliments: hilarious, flattering, way-too-personal, rude, and repetitive—you name it, I’ve heard it. I try my darndest to be polite and utter a quick thank-you but I often use one of my worn-out comebacks that I should really retire. I am aware that bellydance is provocative and some people are unsure of an appropriate response. But I digress…

New Moon & Solar Eclipse today! The moon is in the sign of Sagittarius and combined with the solar eclipse, this is a powerful aspect. What does it mean?

New Moons signify rebirth, beginnings, a clean slate, the start of a new cycle. This lunation is a more potent New Moon, as it is a Solar Eclipse, and represents a new beginning in the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius. It's a time when we can focus on some of the constructive traits of the sign of the Archer--optimistic, enthusiastic, adventurous, honest, outspoken, independent--and consider how to positively incorporate these qualities into our lives.

  • Tell me what you want...your wish is my command!

Darlings! It occurred to me last night that I've been a terrible hostess – I invited you to the GoddessLife party and then dashed into the other room, distracted by upcoming projects and now here I am just returning to the revelry. Where are my manners!? Fortunately for all of us, the gala has just begun and it is going to be the greatest bash you have ever seen, one that you will never want to leave.

My wish is to give you more of what you desire and need as a Goddess living in this ordinary world.  I was thinking of all your provocative questions, clever suggestions and willingness to share your deepest desires and personal experiences that contribute to the newsletters. I am pleased as punch when I’m writing the eGoddess news, that I long to give you more. Sending it out each month has made the world seem a smaller, more loving place. And all you Goddesses? I feel like we're all kindred spirits, spread all over the world.

  • When you don't FEEL like a goddess...

  • Lunar Lover's Delight: September's Harvest Full Moon is Coming!

Over the next few nights, the moon will be well placed for observation as it moves towards full moon on Sunday night (Sept. 12). This month's full moon is special, because it is the Harvest Moon in the Northern Hemisphere. Because of the location of the sun, Earth, and moon this month, the nearly full moon will appear low in the southeastern sky for several nights in a row, which traditionally has allowed farmers an extension of daylight during the critical time of year when they are harvesting their crops - which is how it was named.

  • Treat yourself to a delicious, fun and fabulous class you always wanted to take!

Sign-up for a class you’ve always wanted to take

While I was at my favorite coffee shop this morning, I read an inspirational story about a woman who simultaneously turned 100 years old, graduated college and crossed the last thing off her bucket list. A bucket list is the 100 things you want to do before you “kick the bucket”. Her story and my second cup motivated me to want to write my own list. However, the copious amount of different things that I desire to do and accomplish in my lifetime flooded my mind all at once and I nearly imploded. I mindlessly grabbed a Community Center class schedule from a stack of newspapers and magazines and thumbed through the classes that ranged from photography to massage to knitting. I noticed that I kept thinking page after page, I’ve always wanted to learn that. But then my mind resisted with the typical excuses: I don’t have time (it will get in the way of procrastinating), I will be terrible at it (and everyone will laugh at me) and its too extravagant to take a class that serves only one silly purpose (because I want to).

  • Tips to Surviving a Break-Up

I’ve been on both sides of a break up. I’ve been dumped, cheated on, neglected, ripped-off, lied to and longed for someone to change. I also have been unavailable, a total dork, immature, angry, stupid, possessed by PMS and completely rude. I’ve been in relationships that endured years and infatuations that lasted 10 minutes. The fact remains the same, regardless of the circumstances: Break-ups. Are. Painful.

Goddess knows I don’t have all the answers, but these are my Top-10 ways I have survived a break-up.

  • Dream Jobs - Do what you love for a living and be a cubicle refugee!

I love my job! It’s crazy, but I adore it more than breakfast in bed. And that’s saying a lot! GoddessLife headquarters is an unconventional workplace that I created by doing what I love to do: dancing, dressing up and empowering women to discover their own path. I found my purpose in life, but it wasn’t always this way.

I was fired from my last job of six years.  My boss sat me down over his 18th espresso of his day and started on his tirade by telling me I was a "wild pony".  I was about to say, "thank-you" when he interrupted me with his thick Greek accent to yell at me dramatically, "You are ruining my life" and proceeded to let me go.  Yes, I was bellydancing and technically doing what I loved to do.

  • Bloom where you are planted - How to find a career mentor

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, I knew how to do everything included in my job description. I was a bellydancing at a Moroccan restaurant and teaching bellydance classes. My days were filled with obsessively making bellydance costumes, searching for new Middle-Eastern music and rehearsing.  I made some extra money by selling my Goddess Workout video to my dance students that I recently produced. Then, a student, who was a writer for Sex and the City wrote about The Goddess Workout into an episode. Suddenly my life changed. I was in business. I mean business, as in becoming incorporated with stockholders, officers, lawyers, accountants, spreadsheets and an account at Staples. I was thrown into an alternate universe with aliens who spoke a bizarre language. I needed a guide to navigate the new strange world…I needed a mentor.

  • Happy Hour

Happy Hour. The literal phrase is delightful. The concept is brilliant. The saying is a completely American invention created during the 1920’s prohibition era. The slogan was used at speakeasies (another great phrase) to denote drinking before dinner.

Yes, it is true that the idiom is usually associated with cocktails after a stressful day of work. However, this fact doesn’t mean that you must become inebriated in order to create a happy hour for yourself.

There are millions of other things you could do with that time that would bring you joy.  I have listed 10 ideas below, but I would love to hear your ideas.  Write me and tell me what you would do with your happy hour. The point is to carve out an hour to let your hair down and devote it to your own happiness.

  • Super Moon - Magical Moonlight

Have you been reading all about tonight's special Super Moon? In celebration of the bodacious, beautiful, bright, silvery Goddess, I am re-posting my "Magical Moonlight" blog from May 2008.

While I was driving home tonight from my bellydance gig in Malibu, I was so enchanted by the glow of the Full Moon and the illuminated path it created on the ocean that I nearly drove off a cliff! I began to think about how staggering the influence the Moon has on Earth: twice a day, it makes the waters of the oceans ebb and flow.  It takes about 1,500,000,000 horsepower for the Moon to drag the tides across the Earth each day. Sheesh, that's a lot of power! Scientists (those cuties with the white coats and coke-bottle glasses) say that our body is made up of 95% water. With all this power, the Moon (also known as Luna) must affect us, too, no doubt.  Perhaps which is why we attribute craziness and wild behavior to the Full Moon with the term: lunatic.

  • The Goddess of Pampering: Elizabeth Arden - Pioneer of the Beauty Industry & Yoga!

I am deeply grateful for the woman that gave us the gift and tools for pampering!

Her name is Elizabeth Arden & positively every woman in the United States used her creams, perfumes and cosmetics, including Marilyn Monroe. Elizabeth was an unstoppable powerhouse created absolutely everything what we know today as the $150 billion global health and beauty industry.

She was divinely inspired (obviously) when she opened the first modern day spa and beauty salon. In 1915 she began franchising these temples to beauty called The Red Door that are still in fashion today! She also formulated and manufactured her own cosmetic line and used modern mass marketing techniques to bring her products to the public. Additionally, she introduced the concept of the "makeover" in her salons. A true visionary, she also pioneered restorative exercises based on yoga – nearly 100 years ago!

What a woman! She was a true luminous visionary whose products are still relevant today. Click here to read her entire inspiring story.

  • How to Select and Serve a Bottle of Champagne and open the Bubbly Safely

I've received many requests to repost this blog - and I would never deny my darling GoddessLife Goddesses wishes. Happy 20&HEAVEN!

To my sheer horror, I found out last night that one of my most glamorous and chic friends did not know how to open a bottle of champagne! This unpleasant discovery was made when the loaded weapon was pointed right at me: she had removed the wire cage (that goes around the cork) and the naked cork was aimed precisely in my direction while she aimlessly chatted about seeing Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the Cannes Film Festival.

  • Happy Winter Solstice – This celestial dance shows us how to re-ignite your inner-light

“What’s the big deal going on in the sky?” you ask. News articles all over the web have been reporting the rare celestial paring of the Winter Solstice (longest night of the year) and a full lunar eclipse tonight. It’s so exceptional that NASA reports it hasn’t happened in 456 years and the next one won't come around again until 2094.

So?      This rare occurrence signifies an opportunity for BIG personal transformation. The Winter Solstice is the longest night of the year and marks the darkest point of the sun, after which the light begins to return and the days become longer. Add the full lunar eclipse to this picture and now the sun and moon are both at their darkest point – making for an extremely long and dark night.

What does that mean to me?     Basically, the idea is that when things seem really bleak and dark, it is often our biggest opportunity for personal transformation.

  • Diver - unassisted on one breath – to save dolphins - sets world record!

What a man! GoddessLife is dedicated to empowering and celebrating women (with men receiving the benefits:), but that doesn’t stop me from recognizing extraordinary men and their amazing accomplishments. I am now pausing to recognize!

Today in the Bahamas, New Zealander William Trubridge, accomplished what had long been regarded as an impossible feat: swimming to a depth of 100 meters, or 328 feet, on a single breath and with only hands and feet for propulsion. Trubridge named his long-planned endeavor Project Hector to raise awareness for Hector’s dolphins. This species of dolphins are the littlest in the world and face the threat of extinction, largely because of indiscriminate fishing methods and pollution.

  • GoddessLife Panty X-Change - BURLESQUE Style!

Today was my 6th annual GoddessLife Panty X-Change and we did it Burlesque style! What you ask is a GoddessLife Panty X-Change? And how do you do it Burlesque Style? Well, relax, pour yourself a delicious beverage and let me tell you the entire ridiculously fabulous story.

It all began 6 years ago when 4 of my dearest girlfriends and I desperately longed for more panties. We are all burlesque dancers, bellydancers, hula dancers, cheerleaders and addicted to lingerie. We wore panties while we performed, in classes at my dance studio (The Goddess Center) and for fun. We actually needed them. Once you feel nice knickers on your body, its impossible to return to ordinary undies. Trust me. It was a problem of the highest magnitude; it was a thirst we could not quench. Something must be done! After much research, concentration and meditation, the idea was born that would solve all of our problems and fill our drawers with adorable drawers. For the Winter Holidays, the gift that we would give each other would be panties. AKA: The GoddessLife Panty X-Change.

  • Woman uses dance to heal child prositutes

Using dance as psychotherapy, Sohini Chakraborty is helping former child prostitutes regain their sense of self.

In 1996, Sohini Chakraborty was walking in Kolkata when she came across a wrenching poster: a photo of a child prostitute staring listlessly at the camera, with the caption "I am no more bride-to-be, no more mother-to-be, no more future-to-be." The poster, which was outside the office of a local nongovernmental organization (NGO), was part of an antitrafficking campaign in India, where about 1.2 million children are believed to be involved in prostitution.

  • Do you love your job? - Do what you love and love what you do. March 2010 Newsletter

    Dear eGoddess Community,

I love my job! It’s crazy, but I adore it more than breakfast in bed. And that’s saying a lot! GoddessLife headquarters is an unconventional workplace that I created by doing what I love to do: dancing, dressing up and empowering women to discover their own path. I found my purpose in life, but it wasn’t always this way.

Today I was reminded of the zany and unbelievable events that led to me to the creation of my company. This morning began with squeals of delight as I entered my office to find it revamped into a showgirl’s dream. I hired a designer to add some simple shelves while I was away for a week teaching a workshop. I returned to find she painted the shelves with opalescent paint and covered the sides with rhinestones. She draped fabric from the ceiling and removed all filing cabinets. All files, documents and books were placed on the gorgeous shelves. I couldn’t help but rediscover all my diaries that had been tucked out of sight for years, like the journals I kept when I lived at the infamous Chelsea Hotel in NYC. I pulled them off the shelf and began to read. I was brought back to the time in my life when I was lost and looking for direction. The following paragraph is the paragraph I wrote in my diary the night I discovered my career path:

  • The Cairo Chronicles - An American Bellydancer who Moves to Egypt to Pursue her Dream

Aleya is a phenomenal bellydancer in Cairo. She tells fantastic stories of rubbing rhinestones with famous Egyptian bellydancers and having snake charmers serenading outside her apartment because they think she is a wealthy Saudi. But the most amazing part of her life’s story is that she is an American bellydancer who decided to live her dream and move to the heart of the bellydance world.

Aleya and I go “way back” as dancers. I had the honor of dancing with her when we were both performing in the restaurants and clubs of Los Angeles.  As a bellydancer, it is one thing to be respected by Middle-Easterners living in the United States, but it is entirely different story to perform in the Middle-East.

I believe that dreams should not be just dreams. The way I see it is that dreams aren't made for sleeping on. They visit with purpose. And yet, I know how difficult it is to follow our dreams.

I am so inspired by Aleya pursuing such a bold dream, that I asked her to tell her to write her story and share it with us. Enjoy The Cairo Chronicles and let her motivate you to do what you love and love what you do.
