Not only does the new moon on October 15th at 5:02 am, PDT look to be one of the softer, sweeter moons of the year, it also looks to be one of the most magical, expansive, inspired and grounding. That's a tall order for one little new moon but it carries with it the fortune of Jupiter, the stability of Saturn and the dreamy imagination of Neptune to aid it.
This new moon takes place in Libra, which is the sign that teaches us about love, relationships, balance, artistry, justice, peace and harmony. This coming week is a perfect time (specifically on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday) to start projects especially ones that involve partnership. I suggest that we all allow ourselves the luxury of staring at the ceiling, daring to daydream recklessly. With cues from our imagination, take concrete action to bring that vision to life.
I also suggest using the magical elements of nature around you to enact ritual to call what you envision into being. If you like you can make an offering to Venus Herself as the planet rules Libra. You can burn a red or pink candle, offer the goddess milk, honey, cornmeal and flowers or anything else you feel moved to give her. Mostly be open during ritual to receive the blessings of this moon and the energies it is carrying with it. On a practical level you can write, draw, paint or sing your ideas and inspirations, tell a trusted partner or register a new business name.
It's important to initiate new projects before the of 19th of October as we are headed into another round of Mercury retrograde (November 6th-26th), and as most of us know Mercury retrograde is notorious for stalling plans and mixing up information. After October 19th we are in what astrologers call the “shadow phase” of Mercury retrograde, which makes it a difficult time to start things. Therefore this new moon gives us a very small window of opportunity for building and we can use it to take action or to restore and renew ourselves, both are valid. November brings not only another Mercury retrograde but also two eclipses. Eclipses can be very emotionally turbulent times and tend to trigger major life events. Enjoy this sweet little October moon and remember how important it is to rest, reflect and dream, especially when we know more intense times are on their way!
