I believe that the purpose of life isn't about what you have; it's about what you have to give. Because of this philosophy, I make it a priority to volunteer my time and resources, working closely with inspiring organizations. Step-Up Women's Network tops my list!
Let me count the ways:
Step-Up Women's Network is a nonprofit membership organization igniting women & girls to fulfill their potential. They empower teen girls from under-resourced communities to be confident, college-bound, and career-ready, and propel professional women through connections, collaborations, and continuous development.
The first photo is of me teaching bellydance at a "Goddess Day" at a Sephora store in Los Angeles for an under-resourced community of girls. The second is a Book-Signing Fundraising event held at The Goddess Center.
With Step-Up, I have: been a mentor, had several VERY powerful women as my mentor, taught dozens of bellydance classes and held "Goddess Days" for under-resourced communities of girls, performed bellydance shows with these girls at the high-profile Step-Up annual award ceremony, "The Inspiration Awards", held fundraising events at The Goddess Center and most of all: I have met the most kind, chic, intelligent and fabulous women who also volunteer for Step-Up.
Women who volunteer are Awesome. Fresh. Epic. Fabulous. THE BEST!
Giving back is an essential part of GoddessLife. I call it Goddess Serve. Not only do you make a difference in others lives, but also NOTHING will lift your spirits more! Find something you believe in - whether its cleaning up the beach, visiting children in hospitals, teaching or performing dance in your community: to assisted living residences or battered women's shelters - and carve out time in your schedule and put it on your list of things to do when "you don't feel like a goddess". You can even bring your children. Don’t wait until “someday when you have more time”. I promise that day will never come. And I swear that this is something you will not regret doing. Money-back guarantee!
